Compass Outpaces Industry With 28.7% Revenue Growth in Q1 2025

While residential transactions declined 2.1% nationally, Compass recorded a 28.7% year-over-year revenue increase and a 27.8% rise in total transactions. Organic revenue grew by 14.6%, and operating cash flow hit a record $23.1 million, underscoring the company’s resilience and ability to perform in volatile conditions.

Operational Strength Fuels Agent Growth and Performance

Compass concluded the quarter with over 20,000 principal agents—marking a 42% year-over-year gain. High agent retention at 96.6%, along with key acquisitions, contributed to a net increase of nearly 3,600 agents in Q1 alone.

Market Share on the Rise: Compass Maintains Leadership

Compass grew its national market share to a record 6.0%, up 125 basis points from the previous year. The company also achieved its strongest organic market share growth in two years, increasing by 82 basis points year-over-year.

Delivering Strong Results, Transaction After Transaction

Compass agents completed more than 49,000 transactions in Q1 2025, significantly outperforming national trends. Gross Transaction Value surged 31% year-over-year to $52.4 billion, with organic GTV reaching $47.3 billion.

Three-Phase Marketing Strategy Drives Premium Results

Nearly half of Compass sellers used the firm’s proprietary 3-Phased Price Discovery and Marketing Strategy. Homes sold faster, experienced fewer price reductions, and closed at an average of 2.9% more—delivering an estimated $29,000 premium per sale based on Compass’ average transaction value.
